As Gulf Glass 2011 Exhibition closes its doors at ADNEC, Abu Dhabi, those that exhibited and visited leave with an optimism and expectation for the region’s growing glass industry.
The 4th Gulf Glass exhibition was inaugurated today by His Excellency Sheikh Mubarak Salem Musallam Al Ameri, Second Vice-President of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC), in the presence of high-level officials and exhibitors from over 20 countries.
The organisers of Gulf Glass 2011 are delighted to announce that His Excellency Sheikh Mubarak Salem Musallam Al Ameri, the Second Vice President of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry will officially inaugurate the exhibition.
Saudi Advanced Industries Company (SAIC) has said that its glass manufacturing subsidiary has began the operation of its glass furnace. Obeikan Glass Company, in which SAIC owns a 40% stake, will require 4-5 weeks until the furnace reaches maximum heat. At that stage, the compay will then start producing float glass within 2-3 weeks as fine tuning of the process takes place.

The Pakistan Glass Manufacturers Association (PAGMA) has hailed the decision of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) that glass-manufacturing industry producing exportable goods is eligible for financing under the SBP Long-Term Financing Facility (LTFF). A representative of the sector said high production costs in Pakistan are a major impediment preventing Pakistan’s glassmakers from being competitive in the international market
